    Hello:
Actually, I downloaded the bulk delete plugin on to my wordpress site a few days ago, and when I attempted to activate the bulk delete post option, it crashed my web browser Mozilla Firefox. The message I got was: “bulk delete post, Mozilla Firefox not responding” the browser got shut down, and I couldn’t do any work on the internet until I shut down the browser and re-started it again. I tried using internet explorer but the result was the same. I have the latest versions of both browsers.
How can this problem be resolved.

    Hello Ibrahim,

Is the browser crashing only when activating the bulk delete plugin? Are you able to activate other plugins properly without any issues?

Also how many posts are there in your site?

    Thanks for your instant response.
Actually, the crash only happened when I attempted to activate the bulk delete post. But I’ve had issues with one plugin at a time causing problems for my dashboard.
I had to delete that plugin outright. Your plugin is not one I want to delete, because it is very useful for me at the moment.
I have 5,200 spam posts on my site right now.

    Hello Ibrahim,

Would it be possible for you to give me access to your site?

Also make sure you mark the reply as private reply so that only both of us can see the credentials.

I asked for your WordPress admin credentials so that I can help you debug the issue that you are facing and I had no other intention. It is fairly common for plugin authors to request access information to debug plugin issues, especially with self-hosted WordPress installations. But I can understand if you are not willing to share that information.

Anyways I can give you some pointers which you can use to debug the issue.

    • Check your PHP error log. See if there are any error entires
    • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress and my plugin. Also talk to your host to see if they are using the latest version of PHP and Mysql.
    • If possible try to activate the plugin from a different computer, network and browser. Did you tried it in Google Chrome?
    • Also if possible send me the screenshot of your crashed browser.

Let me know the answers to the above questions and I can try my best to help you. But without access to your WordPress admin, I am not sure if I can do much.

Thanks for having trust in me and sharing credentials to your site. I logged into your site and found the reason why your browser was crashing.

I initially didn’t understand what you meant by browser crashing because my plugin wasn’t doing anything in the frontend. But when I logged into your site I found that there were lot of PHP errors and mainly because of a plugin called “Pretty link lite”. Since the server was continuously outputting these errors the browser was crashing. I went and disabled that plugin and you WordPress admin is not crashing any more. Also my plugin “Bulk Delete” was already active.

There are still some errors that I found in your site, mostly because of file permission. Where is your site hosted? You may want to contact your web hosting company to fix these issues.

Also I found that both your WordPress installation and a couple of plugins are out dated. You may have to update them to the latest version to keep your site safe.

My plugin is active now and you should be able to delete the posts. Let me know if you need any help regarding this.

Once again thank you for trusting me and sharing your credentials to your site with me. You can change the password if you want since I don’t need it again.

    Hello again:
Sorry I couldn’t get back to you promptly.
Actually, I attempted to update the wordpress site to the latest version, which is 4.1.1. Unfortunately, when I did the update, it failed, and I got this error message: “Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘D:\Hosting\12013281\html/wp-admin/menu.php’ (include_path=’.;C:\php\pear’) in D:\Hosting\12013281\html\wp-admin\admin.php on line 115:
I had this problem when I attempted to do the same update to version 4.1. Right now I cannot do any work on the site any more, because I cannot access the dashboard. I did attempt to delete the WP Admin folder, but I downloaded the wrong folder. I can’t upload a new one. But i am not even sure, if the delete of the WP Admin was successful.
But since you have my log in details, can you please kindly help me fix the problem? That is to upload a new WP Admin folder for WordPress version 4.4.1. As a matter of fact, the problem with the bulk delete post, is still not resolved. The plugin opened initially, but when I attempt to make the deletion, the same problem happened the browser crashed.
That was my main reason for doing the update, hoping that the new version will solve the problem.
Maybe you will need to help me do the deletion of all the posts, if you help me out with the new problem.
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Yeah even I saw those error messages. As I said they are generally caused because of file system issues and need to be fixed at server level.

Where is your site hosted? I would need FTP or SSH access to your server to fix these issues. They can’t be done from WordPress admin console alone.

Once these issues are fixed, I can help you to use my plugin to delete the posts that you don’t require.

    Hello:
The website has been fixed by my hosting company, and the upgrade has been done successfully. The site is now running again. But your plugin is still not working. When I attempted the activation again some minutes ago, I still got the same error message: “bulk delete posts Mozilla Firefox not responding”
In light of this problem, I will want you to help me to delete the posts. All the posts on the site should be deleted out right. I will re-publish my posts again.
On the other hand, is there any plugin to prevent spam posts?
Thanking you again for your support and assistance.

I just logged into your site and found that my plugin is already activated. So you don’t have to activate it again. Also the errors that were there earlier were all fixed.

But I found that some of the plugins are still outdated. Do you want me to update them as well?

Also do you want me to delete all the posts? There are about 5255 posts currently in your blog.

Regarding the spam posts, I found that all of them are posted in your user name. Are you using any automated plugin to create posts in your blog or you are manually publishing them?

    Hello again:
I’m very sorry I have been unable to get back to you since your last post. Actually I’ve been having problems with power failure, which has made it impossible for me to use my computer. This is a problem we are grappling with in Africa.
Actually, as you rightly said in one of your previous responses, my site does not have file permissions, and this explains why I am unable to use your plugin, as well as others, despite the fact that they are installed and active. This was confirmed by my hosting company.
Talking about my posts, please delete every single one of them, and the pending posts as well, if you can get them deleted.
Contrary to your observation, the posts were not published in my user name. They had different users. I deleted all the users, and also indicated that I wanted their posts deleted. The users were deleted, but I don’t know why the contents associated with the users were not deleted.
So, if you can, please help me delete every single one of them including the two posts said to be pending.
Thanking you very much for your support.

    Hello again:
My hosting company, has advised me to move away from the windows web hosting plan, to the Linux web hosting plan. The windows web hosting plan they informed me, does not provide right permissions on directories. This explains why I have problems with plugins and wordpress updates. I have purchased the new plan, and the site should be undergoing an update currently. So, when the update is complete, I will attempt using your plugin again, and I will give you a feedback.
    Thanking you again.

Yeah, Windows hosting has issues with file permissions and moving to linux hosting should solve your issues.

When you delete a user the posts that belong to that particular user are mapped to the default user in WordPress. I think your account was the default one and that’s why I saw the posts in your name.

Let me know if you need any help regarding WordPress or my plugin.

    Hello Sir:
My hosting company is still working on my site, and getting things cleared out with my site. It is still not ready, because the domain name is still being updated. With that I will have no more issues with spam posts, because the last backup I did was done before the spam posts appeared.
But I want you to please help me out in another area, other than the that of your plugin. That is formatting a link.
Actually, my site is an affiliate marketing one, and I am promoting products from Amazon.com. The problem is that the way their links are presented, they are just not presentable that way on web pages, and cannot be clicked on.
So, I will be most grateful, if you can possibly give me tips on how to reformat these links and make them clickable.
A sample of this link is pasted below. As you will see, the link is too long, contains too many parts which make it unpresentable the way it is, and cannot be clicked on:
    This is the link:

    <iframe style=”width:120px;height:240px;” marginwidth=”0″ marginheight=”0″ scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ src=”//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=tf_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=kunebusiworl-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=B00N2BW2PK&asins=B00N2BW2PK&linkId=EPSMBG6NTJV5CFO5&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true”>
    </iframe>

Looking forward to reading from you again, and thanking you in advance for your assistance, and also not forgetting to thank you for your previous support. It was exceptionally useful.

Glad to know that all your spam posts are gone. If you need any help with my plugin in future then feel free to contact me again.

Regarding the Amazon affiliate links, I think Amazon provides a way by which you can use short urls instead of these really long ones. I haven’t used Amazon affiliate that much but I have seen lot of marketers use these short urls. So I am pretty sure there should be some way by which you can get these short urls from the Amazon affiliate page.

PS: I would appreciate if you can leave a review for my plugin at the WordPress plugin repo – https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/bulk-delete It would help more people to find my plugin. Thanks.
